Over the past 5 years, Mobile has undergone its greatest economic expansion in history. With numerous local, national, and even international companies providing over 9 billion dollars into the city, Mobile has seen a 22% increase in job growth in just the past 5 years. An additional increase of more than 32% is projected in the next 3 years, largely in part of the ThyssenKrupp steel plant and state dock expansions. During the construction 29,000 people will be employed, and an additional 2,700 permanent jobs will be added to Mobile's economy.
